For Parents
10. Is Judo safe for children?
Yes, safety is our top priority. All our instructors are experienced and trained to ensure a safe environment for children. We use age-appropriate techniques and equipment. We’re also an affiliated club of the British Judo Association and therefore are required to follow their policy called Safe Landing. For more information, please visit https://www.britishjudo.org.uk/
11. What should my child wear to class?
Comfortable sportswear (such as a T-shirt and joggers) is fine for beginners. Once they decide to continue, they’ll need a judo gi (uniform), which will be included in the first month’s membership fee.
12. Can parents watch the classes?
Yes, parents are welcome to watch classes from our designated seating areas.
13. How does the grading system work for children?
We use the mon grading system for children aged 5-14 and the kyu system for children 14+ and adults, which combine skill development with values like resilience and respect. Your child will progress through coloured belts as they master techniques and develop key traits.
14. Are there any family discounts?
Yes, we offer discounts for families with multiple members attending classes. Contact us to find out more.
Uniforms and Equipment
15. Do I need a Judo gi (uniform) to start?
No, beginners can start with regular sportswear. A gi is only required once you’ve decided to continue training and look to sign up.
